Today we had a day off (needed it badly!) and took the opportunity to pay a visit to the local zoo, which was into the Halloween theme this weekend... We all had a great time; Maya loved making the animal noises (they all say grrrr) and she enjoyed the train and the carousel too. Leela just smiled all the way through.
It was also the first time we could observe some Alabamians "in the wild"; since there are no bike lanes or pavements in this neck of the woods you can normally only spot them in cars or in shops!

Interestingly, Maya's German is really picking up. She keeps saying Nein and Tschuss! Also her Dutch is improving, with "bad" and "tas" being the latest additions to her lexicon. But English? Not really!
It was nice not to have therapy today, and not to be obsessed by her right hand for a change. Back to work tomorrow...

Hi Paaj & Anne, it's been great following the daily updates. With treatment in such a short space of time, of course there'll be up days and down days but you have to focus and build on the up days.
ReplyDeleteWow that zoo looks much better than the one in the REAL Birmingham (!) wish you were only down the M6 so we could come and give Maya a big hug (and meet Leela of course!).
Will continue reading the updates and will forward the next blog alert to the family here. Lots and lots of love to you all, and Happy Diwali! XXX
