Managing expectations

First of all, we would like to thank you all (again) for your wonderful comments and emails, your support really makes all the difference.
Today was Maya's cast-change day. First we had normal therapy though, during which she had some nice interaction with her daddy, using shaving cream...

Then, the cast was removed, and her skin was checked for rashes or other type of irritation. No problems there, her left arm and hand looked fine. They were smelly though! So, Maya had a bath and some "bilateral" time. We were a bit worried that she might get upset when the cast was put back on but she was very OK with it. She just picked a new colour (yellow) and was interested in the re-casting process, but that was it.

Mary Rebekah (one of the investigators) was there and she was able to answer some of our questions with regard to what to expect by the end of the treatment. We don't see much grasping yet, and Mary Rebekah explained that due to Maya's fluctuating muscle tone, she is not sure whether we will see that before we go home. Thus, we will need to work on managing our own expectations, as much as on helping Maya develop more fine motor skills...
